Time: 1pm

Duration: 50 minutes

Sunday, March 9, 2025

Join master uileann piper David Power, violinist Marja Gaynor, and flamenco guitarist John Walsh for an exploration of the worlds of baroque, traditional Irish, flamenco and improvised music. By turns finding unexpected affinities and edgy contrasts, the programme ranges from the seventeenth century to contemporary music.

The virtuosic trio have been inspiring audiences since 2020, starting out at the Kaleidoscope Night in Dublin, before keeping the fire burning through lockdown with online gigs at the Hugh Lane Gallery, Finding a Voice, and the Baltimore Fiddle festival. Relishing the return of the full live experience they have since performed at Masters of Tradition, Sligo Baroque Festival, Music in Kilkenny, and a RESONATE residency at Triskel Christchurch, among other places, expanding their repertoire and taking fresh directions with each new outing.

From Barbara Strozzi's seventeenth-century song of heartbreak to high-octane contemporary sounds, join this trio for the unexpected meeting place of baroque, flamenco and Irish trad.

“David Power is a born collaborator. His incisive, fluid piping style has seen him work with a wide range of musicians and composers” (The Irish Times)
